Last year Marvel fans went all crazy when hearing about the agreement deal which Sony had made with Marvel which would allow Spider-Man to show up on the big screen alongside the Avengers and it made many fans happy when they saw the famous webslinger make his MCU debut in this month’s Captain America: Civil War.
Marvel fans have now turned their attention to 20th Century Fox and are hoping that the studio can work our a deal with Marvel which would allow the X Men and Fantastic Four to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Simon Kinberg who is the producer of the X Men films said: “I don’t think it will happen yet. But certainly, obviously, it worked for Sony and there’s a lot of good between me and Kevin, I think now actually between the studio and Marvel. There was a little bit of horse trading back and fourth in the process of making Deadpool, in a good way. Just as a fan of comics and a fan of book movies I would love to see it, the idea that we could give them the Wolverine and I could write for Iron Man would be a dream. But it is a very complicated legal thing that is so far above my pay grade that who knows. Who knows if it will ever happen.”
Over the years, there have been a lot of rumours that Marvel and 20th Century Fox have fallen out over the way the X Men and Fantastic Four franchises have turned out but since the release of the hugely successful Deadpool film, it seems that the two studios have started to get along with each other.
As a Marvel fan I think it would be great and a dream come true to see the X Men and Fantastic Four return to Marvel and join the MCU because if you look at the way Marvel Studios have adapted the Marvel comics into films over the years you can see that they have done it really well. It would be a dream come true to see the X Men and Fantastic Four on the big screen together with the Avengers. I think that since Marvel removed the Inhumans film from their list of upcoming films, there could be something going on behind the scenes and we could see an announcement being made in a few months that 20th Century Fox has agreed on a deal with Marvel to allow the X Men and Fantastic Four join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
