One of the most anticipated films of 2016 was finally released and film fans from across the globe were heading over to the cinemas to watch their favourite superheroes “Batman” and “Superman” fight each other.
Zack Snyder’s 2013 reboot of Superman “Man of steel” was a huge success at the box office, many superhero fans loved the Directors vision for the red caped kryptonian and wanted to see more. When Marvel released their second Avengers film “Age of Ultron”, DC and Warner Bros Studios decided that it was time to step up their game so they came up with a plan which was to create a DC Cinematic Universe which would begin this year with “Batman V Superman” kicking off the journey to many great DC comic book superhero films.
Now as a superhero film buff I have seen nearly every Marvel and DC superhero film ever to be released and when Batman V Superman was finally released I was really excited to see it, every superhero film that is released in cinemas whether it be Marvel or DC. I went to see Batman V Superman and was absolutely excited to see it.
The day had finally arrived and I headed over to the cinema in excitement, bought some popcorn and a ticket to see Batman V Superman. By the end of the film I was absolutely blown away by how excellent the film was, the plot was perfect, the fight sequences were brilliant and most of all the actors performances were extraordinary.
Ben Affleck played his role well in Batman V Superman. We saw a new type of batman and bruce wayne, one that was a lot more mature, one that had turned from a vigilante into a leader with a new purpose. I think Ben Affleck is by far the best Batman yet and I absolutely look forward to seeing him in future DC films.
Jeremy Irons was great as Bruce Wayne’s butler “Alfred”, I think he bought a new type of energy to the character making him more of a funny, sarcastic and almost bodyguard type character. And I’m gonna guess that we may be seeing a lot more action from him in future films because he was just amazing.
I think seeing Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons on screen together was a great experience and it did indeed entertain the audience a lot, it felt like a relationship between two best friends watching out for each other. It was almost like they were both meant to play these two great DC characters.
The film had a lot going on just like any other superhero film. With the film circulating mostly around Batman and Superman, I think Zack Snyder’s vision for the film was brilliant, it had a great plot and storyline and we got to see a lot of new things, not only that we saw what was going on in both cities Gotham and Metropolis. We also got to see a little bit of action from Wonder Woman herself who later went on to help the two mighty titans battle Doomsday and later team up with Batman to help form the Justice League.
Henry Cavill reprised his role as Superman and did exceptionally well playing a very sad, confused and angry character who was struggling to find his place in a world full of people who were against him and thought of him as a danger to mankind.
Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor was great. We saw a very insecure and evil character who was very unpredictable in every action he takes. His performance actually shocked a lot of the audience keeping them on the edge of their seats wondering what his next move would be.
The film was great and I think that other film critics may have been a little bit too harsh on the film because I think that the majority of people who have seen the film did actually enjoy it.
At the end of the day it’s for the superhero film fans (paying public) to decide whether the film was great or not and film critics shouldn’t be allowed to take any part in that.
I think that Zack Snyder’s vision for the DCEU is great and that we could see a lot of great films in the next few years.
I absolutely am excited to seeing more DC films and Ben Affleck return as Batman again in more films or even his own “Batman” trilogy. I am mostly excited about next year’s “Justice League”.
I really enjoyed this film and I’m going to give it an 8/10.
