Actress Tilda Swinton has emerged as a shock favourite to take over as the Doctor after Peter Capaldi leaves as popular BBC character Doctor Who.
The Oscar-nominee has been tipped to become the new Time Lord and it would be the first time the show will have a female lead.
Now as a Doctor Who fan myself I have seen Tilda Swinton in a couple of films now and she is a very talented actress. I think what makes her ideal for the role as the next Doctor is her acting style because it is very similar to Peter Capaldi, in fact I think she is capable of delivering any kind of acting style and her films are her evidence. I think she would make a great Doctor and this would also be a new beginning for the BBC and it would allow them to maybe do something new with the TV series.
Other female contenders include Olivia Colman (5/1), Maxine Peake (8/1) and Fleabag actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge (12/1). This looks like it could be real since Peter Capaldi announced that the upcoming series for Doctor Who would be the last time fans would see him as the Doctor.
The next Doctor Who series will also be the final series for Steven Moffat as showrunner as he is set to be replaced by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall who will take over for the next series of Doctor Who.
