Black Panther is by far the most unique and vibrant superhero film yet in Marvel Studios’ continuesly growing Cinematic Universe.
The superhero genre just keeps getting more and more popular each year, but it is the first time audiences have witnessed a superhero film with an nearly all black cast.
Marvel’s Black Panther takes place directly after the events of Captain America: Civil War and explores the journey of T’Challa who returns home to take his rightful place as the king of Wakanda.
Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Forrest Whittaker, Angela Bassett, Andy Serkis, Winston Duke, and Martin Freeman.
The film opens in the past where King T’Chaka is telling a young T’Challa a story about the origin of vibranium, how it came into the possession of the their ancestors and how Wakanda’s civilisation has developed since to become a more advanced nation on Earth. We are next taken to a scene in the 90s where we are introduced to a young Erik Killmonger, who is the main villain in this movie, and his father who betrays King T’Chaka. This scene plays a crucial role in setting up the movie’s plot as it is also revisited later on in the movie.
Marvel Studios have bought yet another world and group of characters from Marvel comic books to the big screen with Black Panther. The film introduces audiences to a variety of new characters as well as a whole new world in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The visual effects in Black Panther are amazing. Marvel Studios went where they have never gone before gave their audiences something special to witness with this film. There were a lot of scenes which explores wildlife, nature, and some awesome science fiction technology.
Marvel Studios have made a very different approach to Black Panther in comparison to other films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film features a lot of adventure elements and there are some parts which remind you of Disney’s The Lion King, which I’m guessing the studio did take some inspiration from whilst making this film.
Chadwick Boseman, who made his debut as T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War returned to play the role in his own solo movie. Chadwick Boseman is a very special young actor and his approach to the role has been great, he is very talanted in many areas of his acting and I really admire how he prepares himself for a role in terms of acting style and the use of his voice. In my opinion, I think Marvel Studios cast the right person as the Black Panther and it is quite hard to imagine anybody else in the role.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has featured a variety of supervillains but it seems as though Tom Hiddlestone’s Loki has the No.1 fan favourite supervillain, but it looks like we could be seeing some competition take place thanks to Marvel’s Black Panther. Marvel Studios introduced Erik Killmonger to audiences, who is played by Michael B. Jordan. Honestly, I must admit that I have never witnessed a villain as ferocious as Erik Killmonger. Michael B. Jordan was absolutely phenomenal in Black Panther and truly delivered the most fierce and ruthless Marvel Cinematic Universe supervillain performance yet.
Marvel Studios have received a lot of success over the years with many of their films but Black Panther has been a game changer as not only does the film give audiences something fresh but it also establishes a whole new world in the continuesly growing Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Black Panther is by far the most extraordinary, unique, and vibrant Marvel Studios film yet and is definitely a cinematic masterpiece.
