There I sat in the cinema audience, feeling the excitement fill my mind as I saw Thor and his fellow Revengers fight their way through Hela’s army, alongside the epic music running in the background, as they tried to save the people of Asgard.
Thor: Ragnarok brings yet another trilogy in Marvel’s continuesly growing Cinematic Universe to an end and I must admit, this is definitely by far one of Thor’s most epic outings yet.
A film filled with amazing visual effects, great action, humour, and fantastic sound, Director Taiki Waititi brings a new and special source of energy into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking one of the most epic characters in Marvel comic book history to a whole new level.
Thor: Ragnarok is a very different film, not only in it’s own film series but also in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the film has received some similar treatment to that of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, it really does well enough to stand out and it is by far Marvel’s most spectacular extravaganza yet.
The film features a star studded cast with some familiar faces but also some new faces which brings in some energy and they all do a fantastic job.
This was Chris Hemsworth’s fifth outing as the mighty Thor and I must admit it is by far his most extraordinary performance yet.
Now in comparison to previous Marvel films, Thor hasn’t received the attention he deserves and I believe that the reason why that did not happen was because Loki or some of the other Avengers like Iron Man were always stealing the spotlight but as for Thor, he was a character still developing and finding his place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and thanks to director Taiki Waititi he finally has in Thor: Ragnarok.
Tom Hiddlestone’s role in this film as Loki was a little different in comparison to previous films as we saw him play second fiddle instead of try and steal the spotlight but I feel that there may have been a reason for that, after all you cannot trust the God of Mischief especially after seeing what danage he is capable of doing.
It is the first time Marvel Studios have pit a female villain against a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Thor:Ragnarok introduces audiences to Hela, the Godess of Death, who is played by Cate Blanchett who’s approach to the role was very dark and she really bought a lot of rage and wickedness to the role. I was absolutely overwhelmed by her performance and she really kept audiences on the edges of their seats.
Mark Ruffalo returned as the Incredible Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok and he put on quite an exciting performance in this film not only as Hulk but also as Bruce Banner. We also got to see what he has been up to since the events of Age of Ultron which really links up well.
We are also introduced to some new characters such as Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), Skurge (Karl Urban), Valkyrie (Tessa Thomson), and Korg who is voiced by Taiki Waititi himself.
I strongly believe that Director Taiki Waititi has created a Marvel Masterpiece with Thor: Ragnarok. I am absolutely overwhelmed by how he has created such an amazing film by using a group of very different and very talanted stars.
It was said earlier this year that Thor: Ragnarok was to be given the Guardians of the Galaxy treatment but I feel that Marvel Studios have created something far more better and I think that some of the elements, which have been taken from the Guardians of the Galaxy films and added to this Thor have blended in well with the elements of Thor. Thor: Ragnarok has not only redeemed the Thor character but has got the audiences to fall in love with not only the God of Thunder but also the world which he lives in far more than ever before.
The film explores a very interesting plot which focuses mostly on the Ragnarok story from the comics but also has some sidestory from the Planet Hulk comics which explains the presence of the Incredible Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok.
One of the things I really liked about Thor: Ragnarok was the way it was structured, it has a great beginning, interesting middle, and epic end and the film really does well in exploring the story and building up to the epic end which really kept audiences excited. We are also introduced to a variety of new characters which I am sure will definitely appear in future Marvel films to come.
Thor: Ragnarok is definitely the most exciting Marvel film I have seen yet. The film really meets all of my expectations and I must admit the film does even better with some of the elements from the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Thor: Ragnarok does well in terms of tone, drama, humour and action. The film nails almost everything which I was expecting and definitely a good balance between action and humour. The film explores a good amount of story, not having too much or too less, and features a star studded cast. This is in my opinion the most spectacular Thor film yet and I enjoyed the star studded adventure in Thor: Ragnarok, it was special and for that reason I am going to give it a 9/10.
