The X-Men movies universe has come a very long way since the first ever X-Men film all the way back in 2000. It sadly does look like the X-Men series is nearing it’s end. Logan which is set to be released all over the world will mark the end of Hugh Jackman’s long run as the Wolverine and it looks like 20th Century Fox are beginning to get ready to say goodbye to the X-Men series as they prepare for the upcoming X-Men spinoff film “X-Men: The New Mutants” and pre-production on the next X-Men film “X-Men: Supernova”.
Over the years 20th Century Fox has bought X-Men films to the big screen with the help of director Bryan Singer and Producer Simon Kinberg and it looks like the next X-Men film will begin production soon and it looks like Fox are going to hand Simon Kinberg his directorial debut.
According to multiple sources Simon Kinberg is in talks to direct X-Men: Supernova, after already completing the screenplay for the film. The sources claim that Fox has yet to decide whether or not they will use his script for the film.
So if the studio does go ahead with Simon Kinberg’s screenplay for the film and grants him his directorial debut then that would be great for both studio and filmmaker as Kinberg is someone with a lot of experience not only with the X-Men films but also with other films as well.
If X-Men: Supernova is the last film in the X-Men series then there is only one option left for 20th Century Fox to go with in order to continue to expand their universe and that is to use Deadpool and use that as a foundation to build the X-Force films on in the future. This would be great as it would allow them to introduce fresh characters and also create more stories for fans.
So what do you think about the possibility of Kinberg directing X-Men: Supernova? Is Deadpool and the X-Force the future of the X-Men Universe? Comment below.
