Disney and Marvel Studios have confirmed that they will be making only one “Avengers: Infinity War” film instead of two which they had previously planned to do.
Disney said on Friday that they will still release Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” film on May 4, 2018. But what was slated to be “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2” has now been renamed as an “Untitled Avengers” project.
The two Avengers: Infinity War films were announced together in October, 2014, with both films to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Two months ago, the Russo brothers said that the third and fourth Avengers films were being retitled in part to clarify that the films would be two separate films rather than one large film split in half.
Now it does seem that Disney and Marvel have done this because they maybe want to focus on the current Avengers team in Avengers: Infinity War and are probably going to have the untitled Avengers film be like the film which is a new beginning in the MCU and introduces a new team of Avengers who could maybe defeat Thanos.
There is also a possibility that Avengers: Infinity War could feature a few villains working under Thanos who the current Avengers may defeat but it could be that they end up being killed by Thanos which leads up to the next Avengers film where we see a new team of Avengers fight Thanos.
Production on “Avengers: Infinity War” is expected to begin later on this year. The Russos are directing from a script written by the team of Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFeely with a back story based on the powerful Infinity Stones described in various Marvel Films and Comic Books.
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner starred in both movies. Downey and Renner have been confirmed to appear in “Infinity Wars.”
So what are your guys thoughts? You think the two Avengers films will feature different Avengers teams? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
