Warner Bros have officially confirmed that Matt Reeves will direct the Batman solo film in announcement yesterday.
The DCEU’s standalone film for the Caped Crusader has had it’s ups and downs in the medie with a lot of speculation and director trouble after Ben Affleck announced that he was stepping down from the director’s role which resulted in months of conflicting statements about the state of the film’s screenplay and led to major speculation on the actor’s enthusiasm in making the solo Batman film.
Things are beginning to look a lot more positive now that Warner Bros have picked Matt Reeves to direct the film, he is best known for Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes but It looks like he can look forward to taking on a Batman project since the deal is now done.
Warner Bros. announced in an official press released that Matt Reeves is set to direct and also produce The Batman film. When speaking about his next project, the newly announced director had this to say:
“I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”
Matt Reeves is currently finishing up work on this summer’s War for the Planet of the Apes. There’s no official release date for The Batman set but it’s likely that the director will start moving on pre-production after that he has finished work on War for the Planet of the Apes.
