Director Ridley Scott has finally made his return to the Alien franchise and after releasing Prometheus back in 2012, the filmmaker has decided to concentrate on developing his Alien franchise and has plans for the future of the series beyond this year’s Alien: Covenant.
With Alien: Covenant set to be released this year, it has been confirmed that the film will start a new trilogy of sci-fi films Which will connect to the original Alien trilogy, but there has been some speculation that Ridley Scott could potentially discover a whole new area in the Alien universe after revealing that he is planning to make six more Alien films.
“If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six. I’m not going to close it down again. No way.”
The filmmaker also revealed that he has no intention on leaving the franchise or give over directorial duties to anyone else.
“You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success and from that you’d better be ready. You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year.”
So it looks like Ridley Scott is focused on developing the Alien franchise a lot more and give fans the opportunity to explore new worlds and stories.
Now I think that there is a possibility that because Ridley Scott wants to make six more Alien films, I think that the first three will be prequels and the second 3 will probably take place after Alien 4. It is also possible that we could see the trilogy of Alien: Covenant not only connect to the original Alien films but also create a new foundation for the director to build new stories on, so there is a huge possibility that fans are going to see the birth of an Alien Universe.
Are you excited about Alien: Covenant? Do you think Ridley Scott should go ahead and make six more Alien films?
