Star Trek: Beyond is definitely one of the best Star Trek films yet! This franchise just keeps getting better every time and it shows you why the Star Trek world is the best place to go for an amazing adventure.
Paramount Pictures have done a brilliant job in promoting this film. We’ve seen some great trailers along with some incredible posters which film fans absolutely loved.
Now this Star Trek film takes place a few years after the events of “Into Darkness” and we see that the crew are now a few years into their 4 year journey. They have discovered and visited a lot of planets but as they continue to travel they suddenly attacked in outer space which forces the Enterprise to crash-land on a mysterious world. The assault came from Krall who is played by Idris Elba, a lizard-like dictator who derives his energy by sucking the life out of his victims. Krall needs an ancient and valuable artifact that’s aboard the badly damaged starship. Left stranded in a rugged wilderness, Kirk played by Chris Pine, Spock played by Zachary Quinto and the rest of the crew must now battle a deadly alien race while trying to find a way off their hostile planet.
I think this third installment was very different from the previous films because we got to see what the world was like outside of the USS Enterprise ship, it was a new experience and it was very different. I think it was fun because we got to discover a new area within the Star Trek world along with some new characters.
The Star Trek cast returned once again and did a terrific job playing these great and iconic characters. It was great to see how some of the relationships between the characters had evolved or changed since the previous film including the friendship of Bones and Spock which I thought was really fun to watch because since the first film you can see how they have both gone from not being friends at all to becoming really close.
Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella were both great in this film and I have got to say that they did a fantastic job playing Krall and Jaylah.
I think Krall was definitely a very different villain compared to Khan in the previous Star Trek film. I think he was far more scarier, brutal and was almost like a big monster, whenever you saw him on screen you could feel the tension rise in the audience.
Jaylah was an incredibly nice character, I think seeing a new character like that full of humour and emotion is always fun and I think Sofia Boutella did a great job playing her. I really hope we can see more of Jaylah in the next installment.
Star Trek: Beyond is definitely one of the best Star Trek films yet and I have got to say that with JJ Abrams being taking on the role of producer for this film I think Simon Pegg and Justin Lin have both done a brilliant job making this film and also adding a few Easter eggs in there to celebrate the 50th Anniversary. Justin Lin’s approach to the film was similar but a little different from JJ’s but he made a great film.
It will be sad to not see either Anton Yelchin or Leonard Nimoy in the next installment since they both sadly passed away but I must say that they were both great and very talented people and they will be missed.
The thing which I love about every Star Trek film is that every time I go into that cinema room to see a Star Trek film I always get that feeling I never get with other films and that feeling makes you feel as though you are part of the USS Enterprise crew and that is why I think Star Trek is one of the best franchises of all time.
So did you like Star Trek: Beyond? where do you think Captain Kirk and his crew go next? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
