Suicide Squad is the third film in the continuously growing DC Extended Universe and it looks like Warner Bros’s plans to create a superhero cinematic universe based on the iconic DC comic book characters is finally beginning to take shape.
Suicide Squad takes place directly after the events of Batman V Superman. Amanda Waller who is a U.S. intelligence officer decides to bring together a team of dangerous supervillains for a top secret mission. Deadshot (who is played by Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and others must work together to unite to battle a mysterious and powerful entity, while the Joker (Jared Leto) launches an evil plan of his own.
So we have now seen three films in the DCEU which are Man of Steel, Batman V Superman and now Suicide Squad which is the third. The DCEU in my opinion is doing well and I’m really excited to see where Warner Bros go with their superhero cinematic universe because the films which they deliver based on these iconic characters and the world’s which they come are just phenomenal.
Suicide Squad was great and I really enjoyed seeing some of DC’s most iconic villains get bought to life on the big screen.
I have got to say that I really admired the way David Ayer approached this film because if you look at the way the film has been structured, not only do we get to see the main characters as the main focus of the film but we also get a little bit of a story going on in the background which I thought was very good and it really blended in well with the main plot in the film itself.
The whole cast was fantastic and I think Warner Bros did a great job in finding these greatly talanted actors and actresses.
I really enjoyed watching the chemistry between Will Smith’s Deadshot and Margot Robbie’s Harlech Quinn, I thought it was really good and it was also very intriguing because we got to see what these villains were like when they worked together for survival.
Jared Leto who played the new Joker was extraordinary. I thought he made a very different approach to the role compared to previous actors who have portrayed the role but I think he did a great job in playing the Joker. He was very unpredictable in every move he made which really kept the audience on the edges of their seats to try and find out what his next move would be.
Although this was a film based on villains or bad guys which some we knew and didn’t quite know as well, I think everyone was expecting Suicide Squad to be full of havoc with all these supervillains running wild destroying the place but after watching this film I can say that every villain has got a good side whether that be making a decision to save the world or making a decision to do something good.
Suicide Squad in my opinion was great. I really enjoyed every aspect of the film and I will be honest with you, before I even decided to go and see the film I did have my negative thoughts about it being a failure but in the end I was blown away by how great this film was and I’m glad I made the decision to watch the film.
I’m really excited about the DCEU and I really look forward to seeing where Warner Bros go with these iconic characters.
I’m going to give Suicide Squad a 8/10 because I enjoyed the film and the new experience to watch a film based on supervillains and get a view of what the world was like from their eyes.
